Balakot is a perfectly peaceful “Christmas” rendezvous closer to your workstation in Islamabad. The only sound you hear at Balakot is, the soothing sound of the Kunhar River and the chirping of hummingbirds nestling over the thick pine forest. If you are overworked and want an escape to a quiet, peaceful but easily accessible place from Islamabad/Rawalpindi/Peshawar, yes you read that right. It is Balakot, at Hazara, KPK. Murree is crowded and so is Natiagali making the access boring and a times stressful. Balakot is not crowded, it is easily accessible by the Hazara motorway and you get the serenity of the Himalayan foothills.
Christmas Tour Balakot is destined for Balakot which is located in the Kaghan Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Balakot serves as a gateway to many of Pakistan’s most stunning landscapes, making it a perfect stop for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike. It is 3-hour drive from Islamabad/Peshawar. On Hazara motorway till Mansehra city (2 hour) and on N-15 from Mansehra to Balakot (one hour) and onward to Kaghan valley. Tarana is a beautiful pineclad town along the banks of Kunhar river that is tourist perfect destination for Christmas Eve. Christmas Tour Balakot is for a quick escape from the crowded city to a peaceful destination to spend a perfect Christmas.
Depending on your time slot, you can start your journey from Islamabad/Peshawar following the Motorway M1/M2 and take a turn on Hazara Motorway at Hasanabadal and follow it till Kakhi Choraya Mansehra. From Mansehra you will follow N15 Kaghan Highway till Tarana Town , which is your destination. It will take you 3 hours with constant speed and a little more if you stop en route.
At Tarana you settle at your hotel/guesthouse and plan your activities by taking a sip of hot coffee or Garam Chai (hot milk tea). If you have reached before lunch, you can spare the time to trek on the pine slopes of Tarana or along the banks of River Kunhar to enjoy the landscape and take some beautiful pictures of the sunset before Christmas. You may also decorate your room with pine branches and other natural herbs.
Enjoy your Christmas celebrations with a peaceful walk along the banks of Kunhar River to play with nature at its most beautiful moment. Talk to nature and make friends with nature. After lunch take a trek to the pine forest up the Tarana hills to enjoy the peaceful environment of the Kaghan Valley. At night sit around the fireplace and warm up your cold winters with laughter and fun.
Depending on your time to reach Islamabad, you can drive up to the Indus River at Friendship Bridge at Thakot on KKH. Have your lunch at the scenic Shikiarai and drive back to Islamabad before sunset.
